Rae Elevate Lite Single Motor Desk – One Side Not Lifting? Here’s the Quick Fix

If your Rae Elevate Lite one side not lifting in your Single Motor Desk? don’t panic.

In most cases, this is not a motor failure. It is usually a simple installation issue related to the transmission rod.

Here’s how to identify the problem and fix it in minutes.

What You May Notice

You may experience:

  • One side of the desk goes up
  • The other side stays down
  • You can hear the motor running
  • The hex transmission rod is rotating

If this is happening, the most common cause is that the transmission rod is not fully inserted into the gearbox socket.

Why This Happens (Single Motor Design Explained)

The Rae Elevate Lite uses a single motor system.

That motor:

  1. Lifts its own column
  2. Rotates a hexagonal transmission rod
  3. Transfers torque to the passive leg

If the hex rod is not fully seated inside the gearbox opening at either end, the system cannot properly engage both legs. Even a small gap can prevent movement on one side. This is one of the most common reasons a single motor standing desk lifts unevenly.

How to Fix It (Step-by-Step)

Follow these steps carefully:

Step 1: Unplug the Desk

Disconnect power completely.

Step 2: Locate the Hex Transmission Rod

Go underneath the desk and find the hexagonal rod connecting both legs.

Step 3: Remove and Reinsert

Remove the rod from both legs. Firmly reinsert it into each gearbox opening.

Ensure:

  • The rod goes fully inside.
  • There is no visible gap.
  • It does not slide out easily.

The Image demonstrates where the hex rod must be fully seated for both legs to lift properly.

Step 4: Perform a Full Reset

  • Plug the desk back in.
  • Hold the DOWN button continuously for 10–15 seconds once it reaches the lowest point.
  • This re-syncs the lifting mechanism.
  • After this, both sides should move evenly.

Important Safety Reminder

  • Do not manually push the non-moving side upward.
  • Do not repeatedly run the desk while uneven.
  • Operating the desk while one side is not engaged may twist the frame and cause damage.
